Billy Steven Ballard, better known as “Steve,” was born September 29, 1961 in Birmingham, AL to Bill and Annette Knight Ballard. Steve was a member of Sulligent High School Class of 1979. Upon graduating high school he went on to further his education in business at Auburn University where he was a football trainer and obtained a BS in Accounting and a letter in Auburn Athletics. Everyone that knew Steve would immediately agree that he had a passion for AU football. He followed “his team” on “the plains” and abroad without missing a single Auburn home game since 1979. Steve devoted that same love and passion to his wife, children and family with his kind, tender and unselfishly giving heart. He and his wife Rhonda owned and operated Grand Rooms, which recently located to Front Street in Sulligent, AL. Steve was a patriotic man, loved listening to gospel music, reading history – especially JFK history, and watching old TV shows – The Andy Griffith Show, Perry Mason and Sanford and Son were his favorites. He was baptized at Hillview Baptist Church in Birmingham in 1969 and attended locally Sulligent First United Methodist Church.
