Carl Edward Colburn, age 68, of Sulligent, AL, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at the VA Medical Center in Birmingham, AL.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 2:00pm from the First Freewill Baptist Church, Sulligent, AL. Graveside services with Military Honors to follow in the Wofford Cemetery. Pastor Greg Beven and Pastor BJ Mills to officiate.  Visitation will be held at the church prior to the funeral service from 1:00pm until 2:00pm.

Carl was born on April 13, 1956 in Las Vegas, Nevada to the late Edward Irvin "Buddy" Colburn and the late Hazel O'Mary.  He honorably retired from the U.S. Army after 24 years of dedicated service where he received numerous military awards and medals. He was deployed in Iraq in 2003. He was trained in a variety of different Martial Arts, also receiving his Black Belt.  He was a proud member of the Masons and his former volunteer work as a First Responder.  Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, and participating in shooting competitions.  He had a love for animals and cooking for his family, which he truly adored.  He was a faithful member and Trustee at First Freewill Baptist Church.  His loving heart and faithful spirit will always be cherished and greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
