Robert Charles Wesson, age 75, of Sulligent went to be with the Lord at his residence on Thursday, December 17, 2020.

Private family services will be held Monday, December 21, 2020 from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Gilmer Addition of Sulligent City Cemetery. Bro. Mitch Nethery and Bro. Jeff Chaffin to officiate. Visitation will be held from the Otts Funeral Home Parlor Sunday, December 20, 2020 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

Charles was born March 22, 1945 in Fayette, AL to the late Frank Wesson and Eva Hollingsworth Wesson. Charles graduated from Fayette County High School. He furthered his education at the University of Alabama where he played and marched in the Million Dollar Band. He loved his Alabama Crimson Tide! He received his Master of Arts from the University of North Alabama in 1974.

Charles began his career as a Band Director in the summer of 1967 at Sulligent High School. This career continued for 25 years. During this time at Sulligent, he had the privilege of developing musical and various talents in students from grades 5 through 12. With his expertise, hard work and persistence, Charles created one of the best bands in the area.  He was a strict disciplinarian, but he loved his students and was proud of their accomplishments.

One of Charles' favorite hobbies was golf. He spent many hours with friends at Oak Hill Country Club. He was an avid Coon Hunter and enjoyed many nights walking through the woods with his dogs and friends. He was a part of the American Coon Hunters Association.

After retiring from teaching in 1991, Charles opened and operated Computer Associates in Fayette, AL. Charles was a self-educated computer genius.  After closing this business, he continued helping local businesses and individuals. He helped numerous friends and family members with technological issues and never asked for anything in return. He had a heart of gold!

Charles resided in Sulligent for 53 years. He was and will remain a mentor and friend to many!
