Daniel "Avon" Truelove, age 83, of Sulligent, AL, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025 in Tuscaloosa, AL. Funeral services with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 2:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with graveside services and burial to follow in Allman Community Cemetery.  Pastor Debbie Smith and Dr. Minister Daniel Truelove, Jr. to officiate.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the funeral service from 1:00pm until 2:00pm.

Avon was born on May 3, 1942 in Sulligent, AL to the late Daniel Thurston Truelove and the late Lucille Bernice Allman Truelove.  He graduated from Lamar County schools and later honorably served in the U.S. Air Force.  Avon was a faithful member of Allman Chapel C.M.E. Church, serving as Supt. of Sunday School, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer, and as the Building and Grounds Manager.  He also served as a Delegate to C.M.E. Huntsville District and Annual Conference.  Avon was the President of the Lamar County Chapter of the DNC and an active member of the Murray Todd Foundation.  He was a carpenter by trade and a self- employed truck driver.  Avon was mostly known as an honorable man of God.   His humble and kind spirit will always be cherished and greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
