Deborah Jane Blaylock McMurrey, age 70, of Sulligent, AL, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025 at her residence.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025 at 2:00pm at People's Tabernacle Church with graveside services and burial to follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.  Bro. Stanley Blaylock, Bro. Steve Blaylock, and Bro. Philip Blaylock to officiate.  Visitation will be held at the church prior to the funeral service from 12:00pm until 2:00pm.

Deborah was born on June 23, 1955 in Rockford, IL to the late Leroy Hilbert Blaylock and the late Martha Lou Tucker Blaylock.  She was a 1973 graduate of Sulligent High School, graduating top of her class as Valedictorian and later attended Brewer State Junior College before graduating from MUW in Columbus, MS.  After just a few years into her teaching career, it became necessary to change from teaching science to teaching math. So she took summer classes at the University of Montevallo to bolster her minor in math. She then taught math over the next 30 plus years at the junior high level. Deborah retired from teaching with over 37 years of dedicated service to her students, school and community.  She was actively involved in various clubs and organizations at SHS, including sponsoring of the Junior Beta Club and taught science and math. Deborah faithfully served her church as a Sunday School teacher, playing the organ and helped with the church van ministry.  She loved to sing with her Blaylock siblings and was known to be fond of free hand painting.  She also liked to decorate cakes and work puzzles.  Deborah was a member of People's Tabernacle Church in Sulligent, AL.  Her strong faith and beautifully kind heart are a testament to the life she lived and to our Lord she so honorably served.  Deborah's loving memory will forever be cherished by all who loved her and knew her.
