Dempsey Gray Barnes, age 83, of Sulligent, AL, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025 at NMMC in Tupelo, MS.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2024 at 2:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Gilmer Addition of Sulligent City Cemetery.  Bro. Jared Wilson, Bro. Edward Puckett, and Bro. Arnold Sheets to officiate.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the funeral service from 1:00pm until 2:00pm.

Dempsey was born on April 18, 1941 in Lamar County, AL to the late Kelsie Barnes and the late Cora Lee Hollis Barnes.  He attended Sulligent High School and East Mississippi Community College in Mayhew, MS.  He honorably served in the U.S. Air Force.  Dempsey enjoyed his work and loved being outdoors working in the yard and gardening.  He also drew blue prints on the side.  He loved spending time with his family which he adored.  His bright smile and loving heart will always be cherished and greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.  Dempsey was a member of Freewill Chapel Church.
