Donald Ray Edwards, age 76, of Sulligent, AL, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at NMMC in Tupelo, MS. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 11:00am from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with private family graveside services and burial to follow in Cooper Cemetery. Bro. Matthew Paul to officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the funeral service from 10:00am until 11:00am.

Donald was born on May 13, 1949 in Sulligent, AL to the late Arnold Halbert Edwards and the late Ola Mae Kelly Edwards. He was a 1967 graduate of Sulligent High School and later joined the U.S. Navy serving for 2 years in San Diego, CA and in Corpus Christi, TX. Following his service, Donald returned to Sulligent where he married Jewel Faye Greene and they soon moved to central Florida where Donald worked in deploying communications networks. They had two sons. In the late 1970s, Donald spent summers leading back-country tours in Yosemite Park, California and winters working in South Lake Tahoe. Donald moved back to Sulligent in the early 1980s and married Nell Eaton Horton. They were members of Sulligent Church of God. Donald established the Lamar Storage facility in Sulligent and he has been the owner/operator of Lamar Storage for 43 years. Donald has always enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing and exploring winding country roads and mountain nature trails. In his later years he could often be found on his porch overlooking the park like area and fishing ponds that he created alongside Bogue Creek.
Donald was a loving family man who was happiest when his home was filled with kids, family, friends and pets.

Grandchildren: Jace Edwards, Coley Waldrop, and Briley Waldrop
