Donald Guy Taylor, age 76, of Beaverton, AL, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, April 7, 2024.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 5:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Sizemore Memorial Cemetery.  Bro. Ricky Kendrick and Bro. Dwight Taylor  to officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the funeral service from 3:30pm until 5:00pm.

Don was born to Sam and Cora (Miller)Taylor on July 30, 1947 in Beaverton, AL.  He was a graduate of Sulligent High School and Brewer State Community College where he graduated with an associate degree in liberal arts.  He served his country in the Army for 7 years.  He was employed by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, formerly Frisco, for 36 years.  He loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Life Church in Beaverton.  Don loved his wife, children, and grandchildren, and his greatest joy was spending time with them, whether traveling, playing games, or riding four wheelers.  He was adored by his 6 grandchildren who knew him as "Paw Paw Don".  He supported his wife, children, and grandchildren by attending every singing, sporting event, dance, or music recital he was able.  He was a generous man who not only loved his family, but also loved and supported his community.  He was always willing to lend a hand or help a neighbor in need.  He made friends everywhere he went, always sharing a kind word and, as the grandkids would call them, "Paw Paw Don jokes". Some of his favorite things were Alabama football, coffee, and caps.  He will be remembered as a man who loved his God, his family, and his country.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Ginger, and his three daughters, Jenifer Markham (Patrick) of Northport, Labrisca Blakney (Nick) of Northport, and April Wise (David) of Vernon; 6 grandchildren: Nicholas (Mack), CJ (Hannah), Mason (Addie), Hannah, Leslie, and Claire.  He is also survived by his siblings: Shirley Kennedy, Guary Taylor, Robert Taylor (Sherry), David Taylor (Sara), Sheila Flannigan (Ricky), and many nephews and nieces.  He was preceded in death by his father (Sam), mother (Cora), a brother (James), and a nephew (Terry).
