Obituary

Dwight Trentham, age 71, of Sulligent, AL, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2020 at DCH in Tuscaloosa, AL.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 2:00pm at Shiloh Baptist Church with Masonic Graveside services to follow in Shiloh Cemetery.  Bro. Mitch Nethery, Bro. Jimmy May, and Josh Trentham to officiate.  The body will lie in state at the church prior to the funeral service from 1:00pm until 2:00pm.  Visitation will be held at Otts Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.

Dwight was born to Philip E. and Vernie Mae Trentham on May 24, 1949 in Beaverton, AL.  He was a 1967 graduate of Sulligent High School.  After graduation, he joined the USAF and served his country for four years, being honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant on January 10, 1972.  On August 26, 1973 he joined the Alabama National Guard and served four years before being honorably discharged.  Dwight worked at Hyster Company in Sulligent for thirty-seven years and retired in 2009.  He was a member of Sulligent Masonic Lodge #532 where he was sitting chaplain. Dwight was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Sulligent where he was ordained as a deacon in February 1975.  He also served in several other areas of ministry through the years.  He loved his church and all of his church family.  Dwight enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, gardening, and woodworking.
