Isabella H. Pennington

March 18, 1937 ~ February 2, 2026

Isabella Pennington, age 88, of Vernon, Alabama departed this life for eternity on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Fayette Medical Center in Fayette, AL. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 12:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Furnace Hill Cemetery.  Pastor David LeSueur to officiate.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the funeral service from 11:00am until 12:00pm

Isabella never met a stranger and always showed love and a kind heart to everyone she met. She always made sure that you knew you were loved in her presence.  She had a magnificent personality. She would keep you laughing and was very personable.

Isabella was a graduate of Todd High School and served on the Lamar County Training School/Todd High School Scholarship Committee.  She was employed with Chromalox for over 30 years, eventually becoming a supervisor.

Isabella accepted Christ at an early age and united with Murray-Shiloh CME Church in Vernon, AL. As a faithful member of Murray-Shiloh, Isabella served in many capacities. She served faithfully as Sunday School Teacher, Church Secretary/Treasurer, Missionary President, Trustee, and many other roles.

Later in life, she married Riley L. Pennington and from their union, God blessed them with four children.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Roosevelt Humphrey and Willie Ruffin; husband, Riley Pennington; son, Michael Pennington; daughter in law, Rayleen Pennington; and sister Mary Hackman.

Isabella leaves to cherish her legacy and precious memories to her children; Carl (Angela) Pennington of Wagarville, AL: a devoted daughter, Phyllis Pennington of Vernon, AL; Vaughn (Alicia) Pennington of Vernon, AL. Nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

She is survived by four sisters; Ida Ruffin, Lula Bell Broyles, Winnie Ruffin of Vernon, AL; Tillie Sue Casey (Henry) of Hamilton, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
