James Alton "Jim" Downey, age 65, of Hamilton, AL passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022 at Lakeland Community Hospital in Haleyville, AL.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 11:00am from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.  Bro. Shawn Logan and Mr. Scott Rushing to officiate.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the funeral service from 10:00am until 11:00am.

Jim was born on April 19, 1956 in Rockford, IL to the late John Downey and the late Juanita Alcorn.  He was a 1974 graduate of Harlem High School in Rockford, IL and later graduated from Illinois State University in Normal, IL.  Jim was employed at Timber Creek Housing in Bear Creek, AL.  He was an avid Alabama and Kansas City Chiefs football fan.
