James "Junior" Bozeman, age 89, of Sulligent, AL, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at his residence.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 3:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with graveside services and burial to follow in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.  Bro. Arnold Sheets, Bro. James Voyles and Dean Hedrick to officiate.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the funeral service from 2:00pm until 3:00pm.

James "Junior" Bozeman born January 13, 1934, in Lamar County, AL, to Dallas and Lorean Bozeman. He was raised in Lamar County, AL and attended school in Guin, AL. James worked at Sears and later owned a Citco gas station and Bozeman Pub in Waukegan IL and Round Lake Beach IL. He drove late models and sprint cars and retired after 25 yrs of racing. In 1985 he married Nelda Phillips Stegall and moved to Sulligent Al. He enjoyed working in his shop making swings and rockers, his garden, playing canasta, watching the races, spending time with his family and friends and his involvement with Freewill Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.

He is survived by daughters Judy Starling of Panama City Beach, Fl, Sherry Bozeman of Milwaukee Wi, Pamela Sheffield of Panama City Beach, Fl, and son Keith Bozeman of Sulligent Al. from his previous marriage to Nellie Roberts Cantrell. Daughters Brenda Hedrick (Dean), of Fulton MS, Linda Stegall of Indianapolis, IN, Lisa Stegall Sulligent, Al. Bethanie McAbee (granddaughter) Hamilton Al. and son Bobby Stegall (Crystal), of Fulton MS. from Nelda's marriage to Bobby Lee Stegall. All together James had 21 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, and two brothers Lloyd Bozeman, Taylor Ridge, IL, and Furman Bozeman of Columbus MS.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Nelda Lois Bozeman in December 2020 and her daughter Janie Stegall, by his parent's Lorean Bozeman, Dallas Bozeman, and sister Robbie Carr.
