OBITUARY

James Ray Carruth, age 78, of Sulligent, AL, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at North AL Medical Center in Florence, AL.  The family has chosen cremation and no memorial services will be announced at this time.

James Ray was born on June 17, 1944 in Sulligent, AL to the late Cecil Carruth and the late Robbie O'Mary Carruth.  He was a 1963 graduate of Sulligent High School.  After graduating he joined the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War while being stationed in Korea.  When James returned home after his military service he began working for a propane gas company which he retired from in 2020 after a very dedicated and full career.  He enjoyed being outdoors and getting to go hunting and fishing any time he could. He loved mud racing, Alabama Crimson Tide football, and mostly his family.  James loved his Lord and Savior and believed in the power of prayer.  He attended Sulligent First Freewill Baptist Church for several years and also attended Sulligent First Assembly frequently.  He loving memory and faithful spirit will always be cherished and missed.
