James "Jim" Stokes, age 74, of Beaverton, AL, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, AL.  Memorial services will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at 2:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel.  Bro. Mitch Nethery to officiate.

Jim was born on June 29, 1949 in Monroe Co., Mississippi to the late James Claude Stokes, Sr. and Nell Maddox Stokes.  He was a 1967 graduate of Sulligent High School and later attended the University of Alabama and Ole Miss.  Jim previously worked at NTN in Hamilton, AL.  He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SGT at Arms).  Jim liked to play the guitar and loved talking and entertaining people with stories.  He had a bright welcoming smile for everyone he met. His joyful spirit will be greatly missed by all those knew him.

He is survived by, Stepson; Don Pupak, Wisconsin, Stepdaughters; Stephanie Conner (Jason), Winfield, AL and Ashley Nellis (Bruce Williams), Sulligent, AL, Sisters; Linda Stokes Hildreth (Emmett F. Hildreth, Jr., Dec.), of Blue Mountain Beach, FL and Shirley Stokes Weeks (Robert L. (Bob)Weeks, Jr., Dec.) of Crews, AL, Stepbrother; Lt. Col John R. (Sandy)Sanders, Jr. USAF Ret. (Jo Ann) of Inverness, FL, Step Grandchildren; Haley Conner, Jeremiah Conner, Brooklyn Conner, and Bryson Williams and numerous beloved Nieces and Nephews and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; James Claude, Sr. and Nell Stokes, Wife; Judy Fonder Stokes, and Stepmother; Sue Roberts Stokes
