James Thurman Murphy, age 78, of Detroit, AL, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Sunset Manor Nursing Home, Guin, AL.  Graveside services will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at 3:30pm at New Hope Cemetery.

James was born on July 9, 1944 in Alexandria, LA to the late Thurman Murphy and the late Pauline Stanley Murphy.  He attended schools in Florida and later served in the US Marine Corp.  James had resided in Detroit, AL since 2011.  He previously worked at the Columbus Air Force Base and also raised German Shepherd dogs.
