Obituary

Luella (Armour) Keller -McGown was born on April 14, 1937, in Parkin, AR to the late Alfred Armour, Sr. and Lady B. (Banks) Armour-Majors. She took her final breath before departing this life at the age of 87 on Friday, April 4, 2025, at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 12th, 2025 at 1:00pm at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Millport, AL with graveside services and burial to follow in Furnace Hill Cemetery. Pastor Richard L. Curry, Jr. to officiate.  Visitation will be held at the church prior to the funeral service from 11:00am until 1:00pm.

She attended Wonder High of West Memphis, Arkansas until the 9th grade. At that point she had to withdraw to help at home, being the older girl. She later moved to Memphis, TN and then in 1960 moved to Indianapolis, IN where she worked at RCA Records as a Record Audio Tester for 21 years until she retired. In 2004, she moved to Vernon, AL. While in Alabama, she attempted to receive her GED, but when her health started to fail, she was forced to withdraw. She resided in Alabama until her death.

Luella confessed Christ at an early age in 1948 at Second Missionary Baptist Church, Hughes, AR. After moving to Indianapolis, IN in 1965 she joined Greater St. Mark of Indianapolis, IN. In 1992, she joined True Tried M.B. Church of Indianapolis, IN. In 2004 after moving to Vernon, AL she became a member of Mt. Olive M.B. Church, Millport, AL under the leadership of Pastor Benny W. Henry. She served in the following capacities throughout her life: President of the Usher Board, Senior Choir, Sunday School Secretary, and rotated teaching the women's Sunday School Class.  She was married to the late Rev. W.C. McGown, Jr. on March 21, 2015, until his death March 21, 2021.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Armour, Sr. and Lady B. (Banks) Armour-Major; six siblings: Alfred Armour, Jr., William (W.L.) Armour, Jimmy Dodson, Lawrence Holloway, Ulysses Holloway, Bobby Dotson; and one grandson, Bryce E. Myles.

Luella leaves to cherish her memories, two siblings: Roberta Campbell and Michael (Debroah) Holloway, both of Indianapolis, IN; seven children: Marilyn Hall, Anthony Harris (Daphane), Delesia Harris, Larry Foster, Sr. (Alberta), Julius Keller, Jr. (Terry) and Rochelle Keller, all of Indianapolis, IN, and Bjanka Myles of Sulligent, AL; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and three great-great granddaughters; the late Mark Shannon that she considered a son, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
