Marlyn M. Loftis, age 85, of Gardendale, AL passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at her residence.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 1:00pm, from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in the Gilmer Addition of the Sulligent City Cemetery.  Supt. Murry Johnson and Bishop Daryl A. Johnson to officiate the services. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, from 12:00pm until service time at 1:00pm.

Marlyn was born on November 30, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Andrew Jackson and the late Geneva Jackson.  She was a graduate of Ursuline High School in Cleveland, OH and a 1970 graduate of Cuyahoga Community College and later graduated with a B.S. in Social Work from Cleveland State University.  Marlyn received her Master's in Social Work from the University of Alabama and worked with AIDB and Jefferson Co. Senior Citizens.   She married Don Allen Loftis in 1971. Marlyn was a licensed missionary and district missionary for Church of God In Christ.
