Richard Royce Cooper, age 84, of Detroit, AL passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, AL, surrounded by his family.   Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 12:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.  Bro. Dwayne Cantrell to officiate.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the funeral service from 11:00am until 12:00pm.

Royce was born on July 28, 1937 in Sulligent, AL the late Palmer Cooper and the late Estelle Barnes.  He attended Byrd and Detroit schools.  Royce served in the Army National Guard for nine years.  He retired from NACCO.  Royce enjoyed gardening, working in the yard with his power tools, Alabama Football, and spending time with his family.
