OBITUARY

R.L. Cork, age 98, of Vernon, AL, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at his residence.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 11:00am from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Gilmer Addition of Sulligent City Cemetery.  Rev. Christopher Riley to officiate.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the funeral service from 10:00am until 11:00am.

Honorary Pallbearers: Molloy Fire Department

R.L. was born on December 24, 1924 in Choctaw Co., MS to the late John Cork and the late Annie Bell Shoemaker Cork.  He attended schools in Ackerman, MS and later at the age of 18, joined the U.S. Air Force honorably serving his country in WWII.  R.L. previously worked at U.S. Steel in Gary, Indiana.  He was a proud member of the Molloy Fire Department for several years.  He enjoyed being outdoors, working in his garden and going fishing.  R. L. was a member of Temple Star Baptist Church.

Wife: Edna Cork, Vernon, AL

Son: Ralph Cork, Minneapolis, MN

Stepdaughter: Cathy Woods, Gary, Indiana

Host of Nieces, Nephews, and other Relatives and Friends
