Rogers Clifton Birmingham, age 80, of Sulligent, AL, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS.  The family has chosen cremation and Memorial services will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Sulligent Community Church at 6:00pm.  Bro. Jason Clifton to officiate. The family will receive friends at the church following the Memorial Service. Burial of Cremains with Military Honors will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 2:00pm in Prospect Cemetery.

Rogers was born on November 2, 1943 at home in the Crews Community to the late John Clifton Birmingham and the late Willie Madge Otts Birmingham.  He was a 1961 graduate from Sulligent High School .  He enlisted in the United States Army  where he was stationed in Texas learning to be a cobra gunship pilot.  He was getting ready to deploy to Vietnam, but a family emergency arose.  He was in the Army for about 2 years.  He later joined the Alabama National Guard where he was a member for 16 years.  He worked on the railroad in Birmingham before he chose a career in Electronics.  While as a electronic technician he received numerous certificates, some of which from Zenith, G.E., and RCA.  He worked for Murphy's Electronics for many years before starting his own business, Birmingham Electronics, which he retired from.  His kind heart and gentle spirit will always be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
