Ronald Alan "Ron" Edwards, age 61, of Kennedy, AL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2024 in the comfort of his home. Celebration of Life services will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 2:00pm at Sulligent First Assembly of God. Bro. Jeff Long and Bro. Jerry Oakes to officiate. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Sulligent First Assembly of God from 6:00pm until 8:00pm and will continue at the church on Thursday until service time.
Ron was born on October 1, 1962, in Peoria Illinois to George Ronald and Shirley Ann Edwards, Ron's journey was one of profound dedication to his loved ones and an unwavering passion for family.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Marcella Edwards, who brought immeasurable joy to his life, his parents, George and Shirley Edwards, who instilled in him the strength and love that guided his path, his children who were the center of his world, daughters, Jessica (Richard) Marlow and Jordan Edwards, and his children by marriage, Caleb (Catherine) Weathers and Austin (Maegan) Carrell. His greatest joy came from being a grandfather to Cade, Carlee, Chandler, Chance, Chase, and Charlotte, John Randal and bonus grandchildren, Maeghan and Zoey Marlow.
In addition to his immediate family, Ron shared a special bond with his sisters, Lana (Harold) Haynes and Traci (Mitch) Austin. His loving aunts and uncles; Bob Edwards (Nancy), Judy Edwards, Lyn (Perry) Neel, and Andy Sittler and a wide circle of nieces and nephews. Ron's love extended to his in-laws, Johnny and Aline Madden, who he loved and embraced and a brother in law, Lloyd (Elizabeth) Jones.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents; George Vesper Edwards, Velma "Granmaw Tweet" Edwards Ulrey and Don Ulrey, Lelan and Lady Geraldine Sittler.
A devoted brother in Christ, Ron found solace and strength in his faith and was a member of Higdon Church of God ,where he will be greatly missed.
Known for his unwavering loyalty to the Ohio State Buckeyes, Ron's passion for his favorite team was infectious, as he cheered them on with fervor through every victory and defeat.
After graduating from Sulligent High School in 1980, Ron proudly served his country as a Navy Corpsman for six years, demonstrating his commitment to duty and service with honor and integrity. Following his military service, Ron dedicated almost 32 years of his life to Hyster-Yale, now Bolzoni, where he was a valued and respected member of the team.
In honoring Ron's life, let us celebrate the love, strength and devotion he brought into our lives and carry forward his legacy of faith, family and Ohio State pride. Though he may no longer walk among us, he lives on in our hearts, eternally remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, adoring grandfather, cherished son, brother, and friend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Higdon Church of God, 721 Higdon Road, Kennedy, AL 35574 or to St. Jude's, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-9959.
