Samuel Matthew Spruiell, passed away unexpectedly on October 10, 2023, at his home in Denver, Colorado. He was only 47 years old. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden death.

Samuel is survived by his daughter- Sophia Mackenzie Spruiell; father- Don Spruiell (Fleeta); sister- Suzanne Pugh (Kevin); nephews- Brady Pugh (Anna) and Ryan Pugh (Tristin).

He is preceded in death by his mother- Marguerite Spruiell; grandparents - Sam and Lottie Mae Spruiell, Paul and Annie Ruth Strawbridge.

Samuel was born in Amory, Mississippi on August 20, 1976. He grew up in Sulligent, Alabama and attended Sulligent High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from The University of Alabama.

After graduating, he started his first job at The Colonnade Group as Creative Director, kickstarting a long career in creative marketing.  Samuel also had a soft spot for animals and spent his free time volunteering at a local animal shelter in Denver - caring and loving for cats and dogs in need of a permanent home.  He was a fun-spirited soul who took on many passions. One of which included photography. He had an incredible artistic talent. He found comfort and peace in capturing raw nature and using it to express himself. Samuel was a beautiful person inside and out. His smile and sense of humor would light up the whole room. He cared so deeply for the people around him. He was so kind and compassionate. He made an impact on many lives and will be forever missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Maxfund Animal Adoption Center, an organization that was important to Samuel.

The family has requested private graveside services with inurnment at the Gilmer Addition of Sulligent City Cemetery. They are very grateful for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
