Seaphues Dailey, age 75, of Vernon, AL, in the Crossville Community, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021 at DCH in Tuscaloosa, AL. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 11:00am at Elizabeth Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, AL with burial to follow in Temple Star Cemetery in Crossville. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:00am until service time at 11:00am. Rev. Benard Henry to officiate. Visitation will be held at Otts Funeral Home on Monday, September 6, 2021 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.
Seaphues Dailey was born in Monroe County, Beatrice AL. on August 27, 1946. He was the seventh child and fourth son of ten children to Ollie Dailey and Mallie Watson Dailey. Seaphues was preceded in death by his parents Ollie Dailey, Mallie Watson Dailey, two sister Ollie Mae Dailey Montgomery, Marie Dailey Davis, three brothers, Wilson Dailey, Jimmy Dailey, Floyd Dailey.
Seaphues leaves to cherish his loving wife Joyce Gwendolyn Lacey Dailey for 53 years, 7 months, 7 days, and 5 minutes. His two sons Seaphues Cortez Dailey Jr. (Danielle) Guin, AL, Jonathan James Dailey (Katrina) Houston, Texas. Grandkids: Jonathan Olajawon Dailey (Birmingham), Zaria Dailey (Tupelo), Romeo Dailey (Houston, Texas), Aleea Westbrook (Birmingham), Khonner Dailey (Guin, AL), Londyn Dailey (Guin, AL), and KJ Hollis (Guin, AL). Three brothers Roy Dailey (New York, New York) Ervin Dailey (Beatrice, AL), Moses Dailey (Atlanta, GA). 1 sister Diane Dailey Hale (Beatrice, AL), 1 Sister-In-Law Lois Dailey (Floyd). Great Grands Arya and Aniyla Walker (Birmingham). A host of nieces and nephews, and special special friends.
Seaphues accepted Christ at an early age, baptized at St. Matthew Baptist Church, Chestnut, AL. He attended Shields Public School after completion of High School. He attended Selma University, Selma, AL attended Alabama State University, Montgomery, AL completing his Bachelor's Degree in 1969 in Biology. He also attended UNA at Florence receiving his Master's Degree in 1975 in Biology, he later went back and received his AA in 1979 in Administration. He was pursuing his Doctrine degree which he lacked 30 hours from having that completed. He taught Biology and coached all sports from 1968-1989. He taught for 32 years was assistance principal for 12 years and principal for 9 years and retired in 2000.
He accepted his calling to the ministry in September 1978. His first church was Gibson Chapel (Fayette, AL), he then became Pastor at First Baptist (Carbon Hill), later on became Pastor of Infant Baptist (Carrollton) and he ended his calling with First Baptist Gordo, where he served for 23 years.
