Obituary

Steve Shepherd, age 68, of Vernon, AL, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS.   Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 2:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Columbus, MS.  Bro. Gary Seay to officiate.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the funeral service from 1:00pm until 2:00pm.

Honorary Pallbearers: Rickey Carroll, Roger Carroll, Ronnie Chain, and Jerry Henry

Steve was born on November 6, 1956 in Columbus, MS to the late James Louis Shepherd and the late Mary George May Shepherd.  He attended New Hope High School in New Hope, MS.  Steve was a self-employed carpenter.  He loved the outdoors, especially going fishing.  He was also known to be an avid Alabama Football fan.  Steve loved his family, friends and beloved dog, Saban, dearly and his precious memory will always be cherished and greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.  He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Daughter: Valerie Fields (Dusty), Millport, AL

Brother: Joe Shepherd, Steens, MS

Sisters: Sandra Tibbett, Amory, MS

Sharon Leavell (Bud), Arlington, TX

Parents: James and Mary Shepherd

Brothers: Larry Shepherd and Kenneth Shepherd

Nephew: Josh Leavell
