Thomas Lucas, age 74, of Sulligent, AL, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at his residence.  Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 2:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in the Fellowship Cemetery, Vernon, AL. Pastor Jason Clifton to officiate the services. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.

Thomas Dean Lucas was born January 20, 1949 in Lamar County Alabama to the late Melvin Lucas and the late Grace Wheeler Lucas. He attended Lamar County High School and was a resident of Lamar County most of his life. After finishing High School, Thomas joined the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam War. Thomas later made a career as a truck driver. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and working on old cars. Thomas also enjoyed watching the Nascar races and westerns. He loved spending time with his family and his "sidekick" Daisy.  He will be deeply missed by the community and all who knew and loved him.
