Obituary

Thurman Stephens, age 92, of Vernon, AL, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 5:00pm from the Mt.Nebo Church with burial to follow in the Furnace Hill Cemetery. Bro. Terry McAdams and Bro. Danny Stanford to officiate. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 4:00pm until service time at 5:00pm.

Thurman was born on November 15, 1932 in Lamar County, AL to the late John Lincoln Stephens and the late Lolis Adair Stephens.  He was a 1950 graduate of Lamar County High School and later attended Birmingham Business College.  Thurman was the previous owner and operator of Stephens T.V. Sales and Service.  He worked 46 years as a T.V. Technician.  He also worked at Hayes Aircraft and as a Civilian for the U.S. Air Force.  Thurman was very involved in servicing his community.  He organized the Molloy Fire Department and had served as Fire Chief.  He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and also enjoyed maintaining and showing antique cars.  Thurman adored his family, he and his wife Carol were married for 73 years.  His humble spirit and kind heart will always be cherished and greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.  He was a member of Mt. Nebo Church.
