Walter Lee Pennington age 84 died Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at 11:00am at Otts Funeral Home in Sulligent, AL. Visitation will be 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Furnace Hill Cemetery in Vernon, AL. All friends and family are welcome to attend.

Mr. Pennington was born September 3, 1938, in Vernon, AL, to the late Travis Pennington and                       Dovie Robertson Pennington. He graduated from Lamar County High School in Vernon, AL in 1958. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church. He retired as a District Manager for Coca-Cola after 37 years of service. He was an ordained deacon and taught Sunday School for many years. He enjoyed reading the Bible, traveling to the Smoky Mountains, watching westerns, and following Alabama Football.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter and two sisters, Louise Stapp and Gerthlene Reynolds. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Annette Edwards Pennington and daughters Deedee Markham (Bruce)-Columbus, MS and Barbie Rawson (Paul)-Meridian, MS. He is also survived by grandchildren Clint Markham (Carley), Emily Markham Riley (Drake), Lexie Rawson, and Lance Rawson, and two great-grandchildren, Mallory and Marleigh Ann.
