Wayne Melton Irvin, age 82, of Hamilton, AL, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at his residence.  Memorial services will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at 2:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial of cremated remains to follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the memorial service from 1:00pm until 2:00pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude's at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.

Wayne Melton Irvin was born on August 1, 1941 to Anthony Kyle Irvin and Avis Norton Irvin in Lamar County, Alabama. He was enlisted and retired from the Alabama National Guard and was employed and retired from NTN Bower in Hamilton. He lived much of his life in the Hamilton area. He was a member of Pleasant Site Freewill Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge #344. Wayne was a kind-hearted man who enjoyed helping others and he took great pleasure in doing so.  His sense of humor was as large as his heart and he was always telling a funny story. While his health suffered greatly following a stroke, you would never see a more independent and determined soul with a very sharp mind.  He was a fountain of information.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was proceeded in death by his wife Sharon Guin Irvin, son David Irvin, stepson, Chris Guyton and stepdaughter Consuelo Lucas.

He leaves behind a host of loved ones to cherish his memory: Wife-Gladys Irvin, Sons-Michael Irvin and Keith Irvin, Daughter-Tanya Simon, 3 step daughters-Phyllis (Scott) Frye, Debra (Barry) Perry and Tracy (Gama) Cordova, 6 Grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren as well as a host of other family and friends.
