William "Polar Bear" Smith, age 72, of Vernon, AL passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 at his residence.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 1:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.  Bro. James Godsey to officiate.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.

William was born on September 14, 1948 in Lamar County, AL to the late John Smith and the late Vinnie Lee Hester.  He previously worked at Detroit Slacks and as a diesel mechanic.  William enjoyed fishing and hunting.
